A Social Ministry Assessment Tool for Parish Staff and Leaders
Thanks for completing this parish assessment tool. Hopefully, this tool has made your parish more aware of its strengths and highlighted the areas for improvement in acting on the Church’s social mission. Now you may want to make plans for educating the parish about these issues and deciding how to take action. You might consider using this tool again by evaluating the parish two or three years from now to see what improvements have been made.
What’s the next step? It’s your call as a parish. As part of the Office for Social Justice’s ministry to the Archdiocese, we offer a variety of resources to assist your parish in more fully living out the Church’s social mission. Some of the ongoing services that OSJ provides include:
Consultation on planning and organizing effective social justice efforts within your parish. Assistance in starting or growing parish membership in Sowers of Justice, an Archdiocesan network of Catholics committed to changing hearts and changing structures on behalf of social justice. Customized in-services for parish staff and/or religious education/day school personnel. A variety of adult education resources, including a seasonal faith sharing series, regular legislative briefings and action alerts, and a bi-monthly newsletter called Seeds of Justice. A network called the Catholic Justice Educators Network (CJEN) which fosters and encourages religious educators to more fully integrate justice into various teaching settings at the parish.
