in integrating the Church's social mission into various aspects of parish life.

5=Outstanding; 4=Very Good; 3=Adequate; 2= Needs Improvement; 1=Does not exist


Rating

1.   The parish involves a significant number of people in charitable activities that meet the basic needs of the poor -- food, clothing, shelter, etc. -- in a way that promotes long term self-sufficiency whenever possible.

2.  An effort is made to educate volunteers in charitable ministry activities (Loaves and Fishes, Habitat for Humanity, etc.) about the need to address the root causes of social problems by working for justice and changing systems.

3.  Parish volunteers treat the poor and marginalized with dignity and respect when serving them interacting with them to hear their histories/stories and find common concerns.

4.  The parish has volunteer opportunities that are appropriate for different age groups (youth, adults, retirees, etc.).

5.  If there is a sister parish relationship, the partnership is based on mutuality and both parishes give and receive as part of the partnership.

6.  Parish facilities are shared appropriately with groups that promote justice and charity.
