Dorothy Day Center


The Dorothy Day Center provides hot meals served by volunteers, mental health services and medical care and much more to people experiencing homelessness. Catholic Charities Housing First staff help guests move from the Dorothy Day Center into housing.

Hours and Meal Times

Breakfast (served Saturday and Sunday only): 9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Lunch: noon – 12:45 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
Other services available Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. and Monday, Wednesday and Friday,  2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Dorothy Day Women's Shelter


The Dorothy Day Center Women's Shelter opened in fall 2007 to provide a dignified emergency shelter for 42 single homeless women.

Located on the second floor of the Dorothy Day Center, a drop-in center and overnight shelter, the women's shelter offers a 24-hour shelter with 42 beds and supportive services to help women address their barriers to housing.

Help available at the Dorothy Day Women's Shelter:

  • Bunk beds
  • Meals
  • Showers
  • Case management
  • Counseling
  • Education guidance
  • Classes such as basic computer training, self defense, creative writing and money management
  • Recreation activities
  • Storage lockers
